On 31 August 2023 came into effect the Working Arrangement on cooperation between the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) and the Ministry of Justice of the Kingdom of Denmark, done at Copenhagen on 9 August 2023 and at Luxembourg on 31 August 2023.
It is the second working arrangement concluded by the EPPO with authorities from non-participating EU Member States, after the one concluded in April 2021 with the Office of the Prosecutor General of Hungary.
The working arrangement acknowledges that EPPO and the competent Danish judicial authorities may cooperate in criminal matters on the basis of the existing EU instruments applicable to Denmark, such as the Convention on 29 May 2000 on mutual assistance in criminal matters between the Member States, the Council Framework Decision 2002/584/JHA on the European arrest warrant, the Council Framework Decision 2003/577/JHA on mutual recognition of Freezing Orders.
In order to facilitate the cooperation between the EPPO and the Danish authorities, the Working Arrangement foresees contact points of the EPPO at the Director of Public Prosecutions of Denmark and the possibility to second, in the future, a Danish liaison officer to the EPPO.
